The following images are some of the lifesaving awards I've acquired over the past 18 years of my life. Each of them have significant value as they were earned through varying levels of hardships. They range from physically demaning to learning the theory of lifesaving through lifesaving techniques.
The Senior Resuscitation award was earned after getting my CPR certificate. I was tested on 2 man CPR and other theory based questions. It was difficult as the tester kept asking me questions while I was performing CPR on the mannequin thus it was distracting. However I passed the assessment as I was able to answer his questions correctly and maintain my focus on the mannequin simultaneously.
The Distinction Award was only obtained after I completed it last year. This award had the prerequisite of 2 other certificates (both of which have are lower standarad than this, hence they are not shown). There are 5 components of this award which I completed after around 6 months of training.
Bronze Cross is an award that requires the one taking the assessment to go into open water. It was a 2-day course, first day they explained to us what we have to do and we had experience using the equipment (flippers, kayaks, rope, rescue tube, etc) and the second was the actual test. Rescuing using a kayak was particularly difficult for me as I have never used one before signing up for the course. The current of the water made it difficult for me to steer it properly but I eventually passed it.
These next pictures are of my achievements that I earned during my Secondary School life. They range from academic related, to Edusave certificates to my results during O Levels to my rank in my CCA.
I graduated from Compassvale Secondary School
The Edusave certificate was given to those who scored to those who performed well and had good conduct. I received the certificate as I was the top 25% of my cohort in terms of results and had a good conduct.
I received my GCE O-Level Certificate in 2018. I was disappointed that I did not score a single "A" for any of my 3 sciences despite being a pure Science student. However the journey to obtain my results was a tough one. I was able to score very good results without studying for my Secondary 1 and 2 life, however Secondary 3 and 4 were completely different. In Secondary 3, I put in easily twice or thrice the effort I did in Secondary 2 and only scored an A for my E and A Mathematics while barely passing my English and my Sciences during the end of the year examinations. As such I was studying hard during my Secondary 4 life. Luckily my effort paid off and I was able to score a good enough grade to enter the course I wanted in Singapore Polytechnic.
I earned the rank of 2nd Sergeant during the 4 years in my CCA. The 4 years were full of ups and downs while I was in the National Cadet Corps (NCC). I was given the appointment of Land Training Officer In Charge as such I was supposed to teach my juniors things related to land training, such as crawling and the correct positions during high alert and low alert. My part mates and I went through thick and thin and we endured the trainings that our seniors told us to do and I learned a lot from it. This includes: camaraderie, leadership skills, commitment and much more. To serve with pride and dedication!
